Hakeem Bello-Osagie?s Personal life
Hakeem Bello-Osagie was born in Lagos Nigeria to a professional gynecologist and his wife; a nurse. When he was just three years of age, Hakeem moved to England with his parents, where they lived
until he was about eight years old and then came back to Nigeria.
Hakeem Bello Osagie?s Academic Experience
Hakeem had both his primary and secondary education in Nigeria. He was a student of King?s College Lagos. At the age of sixteen, Hakeem Bello-Osagie moved back to England and completed his high school. When he was about eighteen, Hakeem gained admission into the University of England. He holds M.B.A. from Harvard Business School, a law Degree from Cambridge University, and M.A. in Economics, Philosophy and Politics from Oxford University. Hakeem Bello-Osagie also attended Nigeria Law School and was afterwards, called to the Nigerian Bar.
Hakeem Bello Osagie?s Career
Hakeem started his career with the Federal government establishments, precisely in the energy sector. He was once a special assistant to the Presidential Adviser on petroleum and energy, and to the Minister of Petroleum and Energy. He served as Secretary of Oil Policy Review and LNG Committee. In the year 1986, Hakeem Bello Osagie established CTIC an Energy consulting firm.
Hakeem was the chairman of board of directors of United Bank for Africa for some years. He resigned from the position in the year 2004. Hakeem also founded the First Security Discount House, a money market and treasury bill trading firm. He is the Chairman, board of directors of a mobile telephone operating firm-Emerging Markets Telecommunications Services Ltd (?EMTS?). The firm operates in Nigeria under the ?Etisalat? brand. He is also the Chairman of Chocolate City Group, one of the leading entertainment companies in Nigeria.
Hakeem Bello-Osagie is the chairman of Etisalat Nigeria, Nigeria's fourth largest mobile telecom network, with more than 18 million subscribers. He is one of the sponsors of a new $120 million shopping mall in in Jabi Lake, Abuja, Nigeria.
Forbes in the year 2014, listed Hakeem Belo-Osagie as the 41st richest man in Africa.
