Micheal Ibru
Michael Ibru was born in the year 1930 to Peter Ibru, a missionary worker. He is a native of Agbarha-Otor, Delta State. He is the head
of the Ibru Organization, one of the largest conglomerates in Nigeria. 

After his secondary education, Micheal Ibru got employment with the United African Company (UAC) as a management trainee. He later left the company in the year 1956 and started a partnership called Laibru, a company he teamed-up with an expatriate called Jimmy Large to form. The partnership took-off with general trading and recorded some success. In the year 1957, Michael Ibru ventured into the frozen fish market which then was still a fertile market with the potentials to deliver returns above the normal market rate.

While trading on seafood, Ibru also floated a company that was into importation business, and also rented and/or built cold storage facilities across Nigeria. Ibru's businesses became very popular and successful in the mid-1960s. He also ventured into transportation and construction. Ibru formed partnership with a Taiwanese company called Osadjere Fishing Company, a company that provided Trawlers and other accessories for trading. Ibru?s transportation company was named Rutam. He also engaged in palm oil production. Currently, the Ibru Organization has expanded into other areas of economy including Brewery, Poultry, Timber and Tourism.

In the year 1983, Ibru contested in a gubernatorial election but lost to Samuel Ogbemudia. He was also a member of the Liberal Convention and the New Movement, which metamorphosed to become NRC.

Micheal Ibru is a traditional chieftain of his community, Ibru bears the traditional title of Olorogun. 
Chief Ibru is married to five wives and has seventeen children, the most prominent among his children are Olorogun Oskar Ibru who heads Ibafon Ports and Oboden Ibru one of the key players in Oceanic bank International PLC.
