Tolu Oniru, popularly known as Toolz, is an outstanding Nigerian radio personality, talk show host, and presenter. She was born in London on July 6, 1982 to the famous Oniru Royal Family of Lagos State.
She is best known for hosting The Midday Show on The Beat 99.9 FM every weekend.
Toolz had her primary education at Talbot House preparatory school in bournemouth, United Kingdom(UK), and her secondary education in Nigeria before she relocated back to the UK to study at City of Westminster College. She went further to obtain a degree in Business and Mass communication from London Metropolitan University.
In an interview on when asked why she dumped medicine for entertainment; she has this to say; ?It is one of those things I just fell into after I finished from the University of Westminster, where I studied business and communications. When I did my A levels in mathematics, biology and chemistry, I was planning to read medicine but after studying chemistry for a year, I realised that it was not really for me. After A levels, I told myself I wouldn?t be going for medicine and I had to convince my parents on my decision. They freaked out! After university, I found myself at this sales job which I did for about seven or eight months. After that, I ended up working at MTV but I soon realised that entertainment obviously, was my thing. At that level, my parents supported me.?
She moved back to Nigeria in April 2009 because she was looking for new challenges. she had been working in the entertainment industry in the United Kingdom for a while and felt the need for new challenges at that point.
Before she came back to Nigeria from the UK, she had worked with MTV Europe and Walt Disney Pictures.
When she started with Beat FM, she thought she was going to be fired in three months or even less because she was a shy person. She freaked at the idea of just being behind the microphone and talking for hours. She confesses that she still suffers stage fright.
She has also interviewed popular African celebrities on her talk show The Juice. Celebrities like Yvonne Nelson, Omotola Jalade Ekeinde, Davido, Rita Dominic.
She was part of the judges at the 2011 and 2012 Channel O Music Video Awards. Toolz is also the host of X Factor West Africa.
The sexy television host used to be embarrassed about her curves she says that she got her figure from her mum. While she was growing up she used to do her best to hide her hips by wearing baggy tee shirts moreso because back then, the vogue was to be slim with no curves and in the UK, everybody was going skimpy during the summer.
On her style, she says that; ?Most of the time I just dress comfortably and I have it at the back of my mind to consider my body shape when dressing. For instance you won?t find me wearing leggings because I have very short legs. Instead, I wear a lot of dresses and I look up to fashion icons who are very curvy and have a timeless style. My fashion fetish? I love shoes. I love Kurt Geiger because the shoes are very sexy and wearable.?
It is worthy to note that she has several awards under her belt. In 2010, she won the Nigeria Broadcaster Awards and Dynamix All Youths Awards for Radio Presenter of the year, in 2011, she won the FAB Awards for On Air Personality of the Year, also in 2011, she won the Nigeria Broadcasters Awards for the Sexiest Media Personality, in 2012, she won the Future Awards for On Air Personality of the year, also in 2012 she won the Nigeria Entertainment Awards for Media Personality of the year, in 2014, she was nominated for the Nickelodeon Kids? Choice Awards for Favourite Nigerian On Air Personality.
On how she came about the name Toolz,she has this to say that Back in London, she and her cousins felt their Nigerian names were not funky enough and hence she wanted something funky. Somebody just came up with Toolz and the name stuck to her since then.
When she is not on air, she loves watching movies, reading and hanging out with her family.
Toolz got engaged to her Pilot heartthrob Captain Tunde Demuren in May 2015. And on September 5th 2015, they both had a former introduction. Toolz went on her personal website to share this:

Anyhoo, so on Saturday 5th September, I had my introduction. This is where the families of the bride and groom officially meet. We had expected about 100 people, I hear there were about 250 people there! Eeek!!
I didn?t sleep well the night before, because I was so nervous and I really didn?t know what to expect. I?ve been to events like this before, but I?m generally in a corner somewhere just observing.
Today the attention was all on me?and that was so unnerving! I?m used to being on stage, but then work-mode has been activated, so in my mind its all about work.
I was so nervous, couldn?t eat?also because I was paranoid that I would get food stuck in my braces and would end up having lots of pictures with efo (spinach) hanging from my teeth lol.
I worked myself up so much that I ended up developing a nervous tick. My right eye twitched for hours and I could barely stop myself from freaking out?.but when I saw him aka Bae the twitching stopped?(and the crowd went awwww!)
