J Martins


J. Martins was born on September 29, in Onitsha Anambra State, Nigeria. He hails from Akanu Ohafia in Ohafia Local Government Area, Abia State Nigeria. J.Martins is a Music producer/performing artist from Nigeria in the west African Continent.

He was heavily influenced by his mother who was a choir mistress. As a child, he traveled with his mum a lot thus was exposed to various church choirs and learnt to play multiple instruments.
He acquired his nursery, primary and university education in Eastern Nigeria. He holds two degrees in Mass Communication (IMT, Enugu) and Business Administration (Enugu State University of Technology).
He has worked with very notable and successful Nigerian artistes, including, but not limited to P-square, 2face Idibia, Fally Ipupa ( Drc congo ), Cabo snoop ( Angola ), Zakes Batwini ( South Africa ), AY ( Tanzania ) Timaya, Waje, MI, Bracket, Iii Bliss, Nneto c , Darey Art Alade, and DJ Arafat from ( Ivory Coast ) Abidjan e.t.c.

He released his debut album GET SERIOUS in 2008, a monumental ten track album that positively impacted on the sounds scene of Nigerian music with massive radio hits like Good or bad, Cool Temper, Money Good and So Fly which sold over Eight Million copy's.



In 2009, Jay Martins released his much anticipated sophomore album titled ELEVATED. Singles off the 13-track album include the hugely successful Oyoyo, Eva, Jukpa, Change, Good or bad (remix) and Tonightwhich also sold over Ten Million copy's.



Just recently, the master of pure African music dropped his third studio album titled SELAH, a Greek word for ?Pause and Think?.

J. Martins believes SELAH has more content that the previous two successful albums, which has so far sold over Fifteen Million copy's from the date of release so far and is still selling, that is confidence from an experienced producer who has honed his craft very well.



He has so many videos of songs like E No Easy ( with Psquare ) Goodtym ( with Cabo Snoop ) Jupa reMix ( with Fally Ipupa ) Good or Bad ( with Psquare & Timaya ) Good life ( with les garagistes from Abidjan ) Touching Body ( with Dj Arafat from Abidjan ) Ifunanaya (with Zkes Batwini from South Africa ) A.Y from Tanzania. Fine Fine Love, E.T.C. with a perfect use and blend of percussion instruments.



It would be recalled that, last year, he released a lovely video for Good Tym ft. Cabo Snoop of Angola. This seals the fact that J. Martins? passion for African music knows no boundary.

In 2013 to 2014 J.Martins has also worked with his friend Fally Ipupa on the Jupa remix with was a massive success and then with his friend Dj Arafat which was and is still one of the baggiest hit to come out from west Africa at the moment.

His love and passion to unite Africa through his music has made him one of the most sought after artiste in Africa when it comes to making good music.

He is a Member of Don Family Music Group as an artist and also a cofounder of the label, which has about five artistes signed under it who have done well over the period of five years.

J. Martins? interest, understandably, lies in audio production and sound engineering as well as traveling, meeting people, writing songs, attending church and going to the movies.



He has a passion for RnB, Hip-hop, Jazz, Funk, Trance, Pop, Reggae and all forms of African music; Afro Beat, Soukous, Makosa.



J. Martins? love for movies is so much that he can point to favourite ones but his choice television shows are 24, LOST, Desperate Housewives, OC, Things fall apart, Fuji House of Commotion, Heroes, Smallville, One three Hill and Making the Band.



He does not read much but his Bible is a must. Thus, he believes that ?With God, I can move mountains?.
