Aliyu Isma?ila was born October 2, 1956 at Numan in Numan Local Government Area of Adamawa State. He is an indigene of Adamawa State.
He had his primary education at Native Authority Primary School, Numan in 1969 and started his secondary education (ordinary level) at Government Secondary School, Numan, and completed his ?A? Levels (advance level) at the Federal School of Arts & Science, Mubi in 1977. Aliyu, went further to study Economics at the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and graduated in 1980 with a Bachelor of Science (Economics).
After his university education, Aliyu Isma'ila began his working career in 1980, as Mortgage Officer with Federal Mortgage Bank, the position he held until 1981 when he was appointed Store Officer with the Nigerian National Supply Company. In 1987, he moved into the banking sector as an analyst, at International Merchant Bank and was there for 12 years.
Aliyu?s quest to serve in the public sector was re-affirmed in 2000, when he was appointed as Assistant Director at the Federal Ministry of Agriculture & Rural Development. He was promoted to the rank of a Deputy Director in 2006 and subsequently posted to the Ministry of Finance in the Department of Home Finance.
In 2009, he was internally posted to the Division of International Association.
In year 2010, Aliyu attended a course on ?Good Governance in Public Sector Administration? in the United Kingdom and was in the same year promoted to the rank of Director and consequently, he was posted to the Office of the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Finance as Director Special Duties. In January 2012, Aliyu was appointed as Permanent Secretary, and was posted as Permanent Secretary, Political & Economic Affairs to the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
In November 2012, Aliyu was posted to the Ministry of Police Affairs as Permanent Secretary and subsequently deployed to Ministry of Defence as Permanent Secretary since March 2013.
Aliyu Isma'ila is happily married and blessed with children.
