Akindele Olufunke Ayotunde, Nigerian actress and producer who is popularly known as Funke Akindele was born on 24th August, 1976. She is an indigene of Lagos State.
Funke Akindele obtained an Ordinary National Diploma(OND) in Mass
Communication from Ogun State University. She went further to study Law from the Lagos State University.She came into limelight through the popular television series ?I need to Know?- a program which was a United Nations Population Fund(UNFPA) Country Assisted program aimed at keeping the youths especially the girl child informed on choices and decisions related to relationship, career and every day challenges being faced by youths. The program sought to raise the awareness on need for effective communications between parents, guardians and their children/wards. The program lasted between 1998 to 2002.
Funke Akindele also has to her credit over a 100 movies she has written and produced.Funke Akindele's big break came in 2009 from the movie titled JENIFA. In addition came the THE RETURN OF JENIFA and in 2015 came the hilarious Television series JENIFA'S DIARY, a hilarious and educative program showing on Television stations in Nigeria including (Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Silverbird Television (STV), African Independent Television (AIT)).
Funke Akindele also runs a non-governmental Organisation known as THE JENIFA FOUNDATION, whose aims and objectives involves nurturing talents and acquiring vocational skills.
It is worthy to note that in 2009, she won the Africa Movie Academy Award for best Actress in a leading role. She has featured in several Nigerian Movies both done in Yoruba and English.
In May 2012 she got married to Kehinde Oloyede Almaroof, a Businessman and Politician. Unfortunately though, the marriage packed up and they went their several ways in July 2013 due to irreconcilable differences.
