Biography of Ita Solomon Enang, SSA to the Government on Senate Matters

Ita Solomon Enang

Senator Ita Solomon Enang was born on August 23, 1962. He is an indigene of Akwa-Ibom State. From 1974 to 1979, He attended the Presbyterian Teachers Training College,Ididep in Akwa Ibom State. He thereafter got admission in 1980 to study Law

at the University of Calabar, Calabar. Senator Ita Solomon Enang graduated with a degree in Law in 1984 and proceeded to the Nigerian Law School, Lagos after which he was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1985. After his call to bar, he began his law practice by starting his own lawfirm.

Senator Ita began his political journey by becoming a councilor in 1987. He thereafter became a member of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly in 1992. He then contested and was elected to the House of Representatives to represent the Ibiono Ibom/Itu Federal Constituency in 1999. His election to represent the Ibiono Ibom/Itu Federal Constituency in April 2007 was nullified in December 2007 by an Election Petition Tribunal. He was however reelected on 20 January 2010.

Senator Enang fought for the abolition of the onshore/offshore dichotomy, ensuring that his state of Akwa Ibom became the highest earner of oil revenue in the country. As the federal representative for Itu/Ibiono, Enang was appointed Chairman of the House Committee on Business and Rules.

Ita Enang contested for the Uyo North East Senatorial seat in April 2011 under the platform of the People?s Demoncratic Party and won.

Senator Ita Enang was appointed as the Senior Special Assistant(SSA) to President Muhammadu Buhari on National Assembly Matters (Senate) on 27 August 2015.
