Patience Ozokwor

Patience Ozokwor is a Nigerian Actress and Musician. Patience Ozokwor is fondly called Mama Gee and she was born on March 25, 1958 at Ngwo in Enugu State, Nigeria. Her village is Amaobo.
Patience Ozokwor had her early Education at Abimbola Gibson Memorial School, Lagos. She later gained admission into Methodist Girls, Yaba. Patience Ozokwor had to relocate with her family to Enugu due to the Civil War.

Patience Ozokwor thereafter attended Teachers Training College in Afikpo from where she proceeded to IMT Enugu and studied Fine and Applied Arts, specializing in Graphics. Patience Ozokwor taught for about four years before venturing into broadcasting. She was employed as an announcer with FRCN Enugu but was unfortunately retrenched when the State closed down all the medium wave band stations. Patience Ozokwor later went into business.

Patience Ozokwor got married immediately after finishing school she unfortunately lost her husband a few years ago to a terminal illness. She is blessed with three biological children, two sons and a daughter and an adopted child.

Patience Ozokwor has always had it in her to act talentedly. She is a natural when it comes to acting. During her teacher training days in Afikpo, their Literature teacher made them present a play each term. When it was the turn of her set to present a play, she was given the Role of Hamlet in William Shakespeare. Even then when she never had the dream of going into acting, she did her part so well that she was later being called Hamlet and their school had to present the play severally at different locations.

Patience Ozokwor?s entrance into Nollywood was by chance as she never knew she would be one of the biggest Nollywood actresses in Nigeria today. It was one Chika Okpala (Chief Zebrudaya of New Masquerades) that invited her to take part in a commercial in which she played the wife of Pete Eneh. The commercial was a mass orientation promo by the Anambra State Government to encourage Anambrarians to acquire education before venturing into trading.

Patience Ozokwor did so well that she was later invited by Pete Eneh to feature in a lead role in his television series(Someone Cares).

Patience Ozokwor had initially felt reluctant coming into the Nigerian movie industry due to her religious beliefs as a member of the Scripture Union, she felt that it would give her an unnecessary exposure and secondly she was very shy. But those who recognized how talented she was kept encouraging her.

After Patience Ozokwor?s first movie in 1998, she did another in 1999 titled ?Authority? and that film gained so much popularity and shot her to limelight. Patience Ozokwor is so talented that she transforms into the character of any script given to her to act. Since then it has been one film to another.

Today, Patience Ozokwor is a big name in the industry. She has acted with practically all the big names in Nollywood and has over 200 films under her belt. Patience Ozokwor has won several awards in the industry till date. Patience Ozokwor was among the 100 Nigerians to be honoured by the Federal Republic of Nigeria at its celebration of the amalgamation of the North and South Protectorates in 1914.
