Wizkid?s musical career began at the age of 11 and he was then known as ?Lil Prinz?. Wizkid however changed his stage name in 2006 when his music career came into limelight.
Wizkid?s first album which had seven tracks was recorded at the age of 11 by one of the popular music producers in the country ? OJB Jezreel and it was released in his church in Lagos.
However, It was not until 2009 that he got a breakthrough in the music industry when his collaboration with one of Nigeria?s best rappers and Mcs ? MI Abaga, on ?fast money fast cars? track drew people?s attention to Wizkid?s unique and exceptional voice and style.
Wizkid has been featured by many established artistes and several T.V Commercials. In 2009, Wizkid signed a Multi ? Million Naira deal with the Empire Mates Entertainment(EME) ? a recording label owned by versatile performer and one of the best R & B artiste cum producer and manager ? Bank W.
Wizkid has had numerous international stage performances and collaborations with famous artistes like Akon, Kardinal Official ,Young Jeezy etc.
In 2010, Wizkid carved a niche for himself in the music industry with the release of his hit singles ?Don?t Dull, Holla at your boy and Tease me?. His debut album ?Superstar?was released in 2011 and in June 2011, he performed several sold out concerts in Nigeria, Uk and the United States.
Wizkid has released other hit songs till date that has won him several awards. Wizkid won the 2012 BET award for the best African act and between then and now, he has pulled in several awards both in Nigeria and internationally.
