Biography
Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie was born in Enugu, Enugu State Nigeria on September 15, 1977, to Mr., James Nwoye Adichie and Grace Ifeoma Adichie, natives of Abba town in Anambra State of Nigeria.
Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie's parents have six children, out of which she is the fifth child. Though Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie is a native Abba Anambra State, she however grew up in Nssukka, Enugu State, Nigeria, in a house once occupied by Chinua Achebe.
Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie had all her early education both primary and secondary at Nsukka, after which she gained admission to study medicine and pharmacy at the University of Nigeria, which only happened within two years before she abandoned the University for another in the United States where she was admitted to study communication.
Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie is the author of three novels, Purple Hibiscus (2003), Half of a Yellow Sun (2006), and Americanah (2013), of a short story collection, The Thing around Your Neck (2009).
She has received numerous awards and distinctions, including the Orange Broadband Prize for Fiction (2007) and a MacArthur Foundation Fellowship (2008).
Chimamanda Ngozi is now married and is also a fellow of the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study, Harvard University.
