And for the folks who simply want to keep abreast of local and foreign news, they can?t help but applaud this young newscaster?s style of presentation.
Hadiza Audu initially wanted to study Law, but didn?t gain admission into the university immediately. So, when the admission came, she calculated the years it would take to study Law and go through the Nigerian Law School and it did not appeal to hence she later got admission at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria to study Sociology. But she changed her course to Mass Communications.
She decided to read Mass Communication because while growing up, she had greatly admired newscasters like Ruth Benamesia-Opia and the late Tokubo Ajayi. And while in school, she was tagged the TV girl.
While in school, she did her Industrial training at DAAR Communications and it was then she decided to pursue a career in newscasting. Hence after she graduated, she went back to do her National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) at DAAR Communications.
She however did not start out as a reporter. She began her career in broadcasting on radio. Soul Serenade was the first programme she presented. she hosted that programme on RayPower FM from Alagbado, Lagos, until she was transferred to Abuja. She also produced the news for AIT in Lagos. But it was in Abuja that she was made an entertainment correspondent; she reported and presented the entertainment news.
Due to the excellent way with which she presented the entertainment news, her late boss Ladi Lawal got her to begin newscasting and she began the next day and everyone liked it.
The fact remains that this energetic journalist has made her mark in the world of television. Since she joined the AIT team in 2002, Hadiza Audu has set herself apart from many others in the industry. She has presented such programs as Week in Review as well as 'Headline News' during the week. She has also presented international events such as the World Music Awards among others.
In an interview with sun Newspaper, she admitted that she is someone that perseveres. She says ?In life you need a lot of perseverance to make an impact. Nothing good comes easy, there are challenges right from the work environment to outside of it. But I chose to stay focused on being the best at what I do. I refused to be distracted.?
She also shares her dreams of someday going into politics. She has this to say ?I would love to go into politics. Though I am doing the little I can to assist people, I believe that I will do much better if I had political office. It would be great to be a member of the House of Representatives. I believe that in the House, I will create the needed change in the lives of my people.?
On her fashion and style, she says ?I have never lived above my means. I have always loved looking good. I have always had my finger on the pulse of fashion. But being stylish doesn?t have to be expensive. For me, the golden rule in fashion is to wear only what you can afford and also wear what you feel comfortable in.
Some say there is a difference between fashion and style. I will say I?m both. I have had people call me a fashionista and I do think I have my own distinct style. This is why even when I go along with what?s in vogue, I add my own twist to it. I have a way of wearing just about everything?
On the need for a healthy lifestyle, she says ?I try to stay healthy. I eat lots of fruits and vegetables. I don?t use bleaching creams. In fact, I stay clear of creams that have even the tiniest content of bleaching agents. I take care of my hair and I smell nice all the time. I am of the opinion that beauty comes from within and we have to take care of our bodies before we adorn ourselves with clothing and other accessories.?
In conclusion, one cannot help but admire Hadiza Audu for her accomplishments in the field of journalism and her dedication to duty.
