Odein Ajumogobia, S.A.N, was born on June 28, 1956 in Lagos Nigeria. He studied law at the University of Lagos where he obtained his LL.B (Hons.). He went to the Nigerian Law School, where
he graduated from in the year 1979, and started practice almost immediately.

Odein Ajumogobia later got employed at his Alma Mater, University of Lagos as a lecturer in the department of Commercial and Industrial law. While lecturing, Odein Ajumogobia was also practicing in the law firm of Fred, Egbe and Company, Lagos.
In 1982, Odein Ajumogobia, in association with another lawyer, founded Ajumogobia and Okeke, a law firm that have over forty lawyers who are into full-time law practice in Abuja, Lagos and PortHarcourt.
Odein Ajumogobia later proceeded to Harvard Law School where he obtained his Masters (LL.M) in law. In the year 2002, he was made an honorary member of the International Court of Arbitration. In 2003, he was appointed the Attorney General and Minister of Justice of River State of Nigeria. Also in the same year 2003, Odein Ajumogobia was made a Senior Advocate of Nigeria. In 2007, Odein Ajumogobia was appointed the Minister of State for Energy (Petroleum). Later, he was elevated to the position of Minister of Foreign Affairs.
