Mr. Adeola Rahman Ipaye was born on June 8, 1963. He is an indigene of Lagos State.
Adeola Rahman Ipaye had his University Education at the University of Lagos(UNILAG) where he graduated with a B.A. (Hons) degree in History in 1984.
He proceeded further to obtain an LL.B degree in Law in 1988. In 1989, he was called to the Nigerian Bar. In 1991, he went ahead to obtain his masters in Law(LL.M).Adeola Rahman Ipaye is a Notary Public for Nigeria and a Fellow of both the Chartered Institute of Taxation and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators in Nigeria.
He began his private legal practice at Oditah Adebiyi aand Co as a Research Coordinator, before he was employed as a lecturer in the Department of Commercial and Industrial Law in the University of Lagos from 1992 to 2001.. Prior to his appointment, He worked as a lecturer, became senior lecturer in 1999 and rose to the position of Sub-Dean of the faculty at the University of Lagos in 2000. He became Special Assistant on Legal affairs to Governor Bola Tinubu of Lagos State in 2001. In 2003, he was made the Senior Special Assistant on Legal Matters by the Governor. He was thereafter appointed as Special Adviser on Taxation and Revenue to Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State and also a member of the State Executive Council from 2007 to 2011.
He was appointed the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Lagos State of Nigeria, from May 2011 to May 2015.
He has also attended several international courses and seminars on law, taxation and public administration. As the Attorney General of Lagos State, he was constitutionally responsible for public prosecutions. He was also leading reform efforts to modernize the criminal law and procedure of Lagos State, speed up the pace of criminal trials, institutionalize sentencing and prison reforms and assist indigent accused persons to get free legal services.
He was however appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari as the Deputy Chief of Staff to the Vice President of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osibanjo and he assumed office in September 2015.
