Chief P.O.Ogbuawa |
Chief Pius Okechukwu Ogbuawa popularly referred to as Ogbuawa is the the Chairman and Managing Director of P.O Ogbuawa and Sons Nigeria Limited hails from Oraeri in Aguata Local Government Area
of Anambra State.
The genesis of his success in the motorcycle and auto parts business began when after the civil war in 1970, he left for Onitsha at the Mgbuka section to learn motor jack repairing but after a few months he was dissatisfied with the trade. He later went to Gombe as an apprentice Mechanic but he had to leave the trade also because his master insisted that he must work on Sundays.
He subsequently went to Portharcourt and tried his hand on car repair but a friend advised him to go back to Nnewi in Anambra State and learn motorcycle spare parts because the Peugeot parts business he had in mind was no longer flourishing.
Ogbuawa came back to Nnewi in 1973 to learn motorcycle parts business at Nkwo Triangle market in Anambra State.
Despite the setbacks he encountered in those early years as none of the masters he served ever settled him with goods or money, he persisted in his hardwork and trust in God. He was not discouraged as he believed that through hardwork and sincerity in his dealings with customers both local and foreign, he would have a breakthrough.
He however started out on his own by approaching people for financial assistance to enable him begin purchase of goods.
Luckily for him he made enough money that enabled him to try his hands on importation of motorcycle spare parts and that was when he had his breakthrough because in that first importation, he made a profit of N9,000 and from there he bought his first car.
It is worthy to note that he is among the few importers that believe in dealing with high quality products.
