Life History of Joshua Dariye
Dariye is a former governor of Plateau State, Nigeria elected on
May 29, 1999 on the platform of the People's Democratic Party (PDP). He was re-elected for another term of four-years in May 2003, but was impeached in November 2006. Court of Appeals ordered that Dariye be reinstated as Governor. The Plateau State Government appealed to the Supreme Court. On April 27, 2007, the Supreme Court refused the appeal of the Plateau State Government and ordered the reinstatement of Dariye with immediate effect. In April 2011, Dariye was elected Senator for Plateau Central on the platform of the Labour Party. He got 189,140 votes, defeating the younger brother of the Yahubu Gowon, Dawuda Gowon of the Peoples Democratic Party, who received 160,106 votes.
