Femi Adesina

Femi Adesina is the special adviser on media and publicity to President Muhammadu Buhari.  He was the managing director and
editor-in-chief of The Sun newspaper.

Femi attended University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University), Lagos Business School and several other notable educational institutions.

Mr. Femi Adesina started his career in journalism at Radio Lagos where his talent as a Features writer was discovered. He later got employed at Vanguard Newspaper as a features writer before moving to the now defunct National Concord Newspaper as features Editor for Weekend Concord. At National Concord, he also became the Title Editor.

Femi was one of the Editorial board members of Nigerian Tribune before he was invited to float The Sun Newspaper that later became Daily Sun. As a matter of fact, Femi Adesina was the pioneer Title Editor of Daily Sun. He was a very hard working Editor, and was consequently rewarded with three rapid promotions, first as Executive Director, then, Deputy Managing Director and later the Managing Director and Editor-in-Chief of the Newspaper in January 2014.

In the year 2007, Femi Adesina earned the Editor of the Year Award, given to him by the Nigeria Media Merit Award. He has delivered several papers and have also a lot of books and articles to his credit. 

Femi Adesina was the President of Nigeria Guild of Editors a position he contested for and won. At the expiration of his first term in office, he re-contested and won again for a second term in office as the President. He was in this position until his appointment as the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to President Muhammadu Buhari.

As the president of the Guild of Editors, Femi Adesina fought for the rights and protection of journalists. 

Femi was the author of the widely read column on the back page of the Daily Sun which was published every Friday with the title ?Before The Cock Crows?.

He is widely regarded as the best president of the Guild of Editors because of his constant vocal support for journalists? welfare. He has been a practicing journalist for over 28 years.

Femi was sworn-in as special adviser on media and publicity to Muhammadu Buhari on August 31, 2015 alongside with Babachir Lawal, the incumbent Secretary to the Federal Government of Nigeria.

Adesina is a Pastor in Four Square Gospel Church and an executive member of Full Gospel Businessmen Fellowship. He is married to Nike Adeshina and they have two children.
