Biography
Gabriel Torwua Suswam was born on 15 November, 1964 in Anyiin, Logo Local Government Area of Benue State, Nigeria.
Gabriel Suswam had his primary Education at NKST Primary School, Zaki-Biam, Benue State and
began his Secondary Education at St.Andrew?s Secondary School, Adikpo and completed it at Government College, Markurdi. He subsequently proceeded to the University of Lagos where he bagged a degree in Law. Hon. Gabriel Suswam went for his Compulsory One year Law School and was called to the Nigerian Bar. He had his Masters in Law at the University of Jos and also had a Masters in Public Administration from the University of Abuja.
Hon. Gabriel Suswam began his pupilage in Private Law practice in the Corporate legal firm of Tokode & Company based in Lagos. In the year 1994 he established his own Law firm, Tingir & Associates, based in Lagos. Due to the expansion his lawfirm experienced, he relocated to Abuja, and had a partnership agreement with a fellow colleague, Harris Ogbole, afterwhich they both formed the firm of Suswam, Ogbole & Co.
Hon. Gabriel Suswam later resigned from private legal practice and ventured into Politics. In 1999, he won a seat into the House of Representatives under the People?s Democratic Party(PDP) to represent his constituency. This seat he was re-elected into in 2003.
Hon. Gabriel Suswam is married to Arc Deaconess Yemisi Dooshima Suswam and they are blessed with two children, both males.
In the year 2007, Hon. Gabriel Suswam was elected the Governor of Benue State under the People?s Demoncratic Party(PDP). In 2011, he was re-elected for a second term in office.
